Recently I got asked by one of the clients to install for him, for a temporary period only, because he had some problems with the solution that was implemented, a router with vpn server and web filtering options. Because it was only meant to be temporary he didn’t want to have any expenses so he wanted some free software that he could put on one of his machines that weren’t used at time.
I wasn’t quite sure what to install at the time, but after some time on google I found a perfect solution. A lite (free) version of Untangle.
As is states on their site it provides an entry-level multi-functional firewall, with:
It is a open-source solution built on Debian, and it is a pretty straight forward thing to install and configure, all you need is a clean PC to install it to.
